A beautiful legacy in art

On April 29th, 2026 we celebrated the close of The Working Mother Experience, a five year labour of love that brought together mothers from around the world to share their story through art. The closing celebration was perfect - the room emanated love and joy, the event and gallery spaces illuminated the artistry of this project perfectly, and our hope and belief is that every attendee left feeling nourished and enriched in some unique way.

When this project took form, I wasn’t sure where it would go. I had aspirations (/delusions) of this project collecting 1000 pieces of art, that the art would be flooding in. Neither of these things occurred, well, not until we said our virtual gallery doors were closing - then the art started flooding in (and I’m ever so grateful). But what did happen, what this project accomplished is more than what I could have envisioned.

In five years, we….

  • Collected 260 pieces of visual art and music from mothers across 10 countries

  • Hosted three exhibitions, two in Canada and one in Denmark

  • Hosted 10 corporate workshops or paint circles that supported mothers to share their story through art

  • Welcomed 9 international hosts that opened their homes to family and friends on February 13, 2026 (or thereabouts), our first international paint night

  • Recorded 63 podcasts with 4,312 total downloads and listeners from all over the world

  • Created a living time capsule, a beautiful book showcasing all collected works (that you can purchase)

  • Donated close to $2,000 to local charities from our event and book sale net proceeds

  • Remained a cohesive, supportive and united team - without Amanda, Swedish Amanda and Angela, this wouldn’t have been possible, nor as successful as it has been. I love you all, deeply. I am so grateful and proud of what we built together.

  • Curated a beautiful collection of art, but more importantly, a beautiful community of vibrant, courageous and beautiful women and mothers

As this project-turned-non-profit comes to a close, I want to express my deep and infinite gratitude to the women and artists who made this a reality. Your courage and vulnerability to share your experience through art, come on the podcast, and introduce other mothers to this project, is appreciated more than you know. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

To a beautiful and wonderful legacy…I’m excited to see what comes next.

With love and gratitude,

M
