The Evolution: The mission remains the same, but the questions we’re asking have shifted.

When I started The Working Mother Experience in 2021, I wanted mothers to feel seen and art felt like the perfect place to begin.

Over the next five years, more than 260 women from around the world trusted us with their stories. Through paintings, photography, sculpture, poetry and mixed media, they shared the realities of working motherhood in ways words often couldn't.

Every submission reminded me that no two experiences of motherhood are exactly the same, but something else became impossible to ignore. Although every story was different, many of the questions were the same.

Why does this feel so hard? Why are mothers carrying so much invisible work? Why do so many families feel like they're trying to fit today's reality into systems that were designed for another generation?

These questions have led to the evolution in The Working Mother Experience, to starting more conversations with physicians, researchers, entrepreneurs, journalists, executives and leaders who are asking similar questions.

The podcast has become a natural extension of the gallery. Instead of creating conversations through art, we are creating conversations through ideas and attempting to solve, albeit immensely meaty and challening, the challenge of working motherhood.

The mission, though, has never changed - I still believe every mother deserves to feel seenand that stories have the power to create change in big and small ways.

Today we're simply asking bigger questions - and inviting more people into the conversation because improving the lives of working mothers isn't only the responsibility of mothers, it's something we all have a role in building.

As Founder & Creative Director, I will lead this evolution, maintaining the site and podcast. I am beyond grateful to the team that brought the world the art, the exhibits and the community that was the first iteration of The Working Mother Experience.

Morgan Craig-Broadwith, Executive M.B.A., M.Sc., Founder and Creative Director

A working mother since 2016, Morgan still hasn’t found the secret sauce to balancing mothering with work. With three amazing small humans, a side hustle, a few passion projects, and a full-time gig in downtown Calgary, Morgan likes to move. She’s committed to finding a way to connect and share the stories of other working mothers and cannot wait to see and share yours.

Morgan is an Albertan from Ontario, loves reading to her kids in accents, performing silly walks, and laughing. And without her husband, she wouldn’t be where she is today.

Angela Anderson-Blunt, M.A. Communications Director

Angela is a mom of two beautiful kids and has worked in public relations and communications for over 15 years. In 2017 she and her husband moved the family from the city to a gorgeous mountain town, and both are fortunate (and determined) enough to hold dream jobs in Marketing, practicing their crafts, and raising their babies in an idyllic bubble of nature and adventure. To be able to work at a fast paced comms job, and then step outside after work and go for a trail run up a mountain - it's what she lives for.

Amanda Langbroek, B.Mgt, Artistic Director

Amanda loves to create. Some days it’s play-doh creations with her two darling daughters, other days it’s water painting mountains or designing logos with her husband and business partner.

She has worked in Marketing & Events since 2007, and has recently partnered with her husband to start their own design agency. They took this leap to align with their goal of being more available to their kids as well as more creative and supportive to their Calgary community.

Amanda can’t wait to connect with working mothers, hear their stories and help them turn that story into art -  to her that’s the good stuff!

Amanda Lapadat, Director, International Relations

Amanda Lapadat-Nordström joins The Working Mother Experience in an international capacity to help take our initiative abroad!

Born and raised outside Toronto, Canada, Amanda has lived abroad in Beijing, London, Buenos Aires, Sao Paolo and Berlin since 2010. Amanda currently resides in Malmö, Sweden with her Swedish husband and two kids (4, 7).

“Being an expat mom adds its own unique challenges and perspectives and I’m thrilled to meet and bring mother stories from around the world to the WME community!”
